Serving Miami and all of South Florida

Two offices, one team, and clients from Homestead to Fort Lauderdale.

Florida has no personal income tax, but it does have a corporate income tax administered by the Florida Department of Revenue, and whether your entity owes it depends on how it is taxed federally. That is why so many South Florida owners hear conflicting advice: an LLC taxed as a partnership, an S corporation and a C corporation each have a different Florida answer. Our clients include import and export companies in Doral, real estate holding entities in Coral Gables and restaurants in Hollywood, many with owners or partners abroad whose reporting has its own rules.

Visits are by appointment. Most of the work can also be done remotely.

Frequently asked questions

Straight answers about this service. For anything else, call us or ask the assistant.

Which return does my company file?

It depends on your entity and its tax election: a corporation, an S corporation, a partnership and a single-member LLC each file differently at the federal level, and only some owe the Florida corporate return. We confirm your classification before starting.

Does my Florida LLC owe the Florida corporate income tax return?

Only some entities do. Florida has no personal income tax, but it does have a corporate income tax administered by the Florida Department of Revenue, and whether your LLC owes that return depends on how it is taxed federally. That is why owners in Miami hear conflicting answers; we check yours against the actual election on file.

What should I bring for the return?

Your year-end financial statements or accounting file, bank and loan statements, payroll reports, fixed asset purchases, prior-year returns and the details of any owner contributions or distributions. If your books are incomplete we reconcile them first through our bookkeeping services.

How does corporate tax return preparation in Miami work with Overthink?

We review and reconcile the year-end books, prepare the federal return that matches your entity and its schedules, determine whether the Florida return applies, prepare the owner-level K-1s and file electronically. You receive a copy with a plain-language explanation of the result, in Spanish or English.

Do I still need to file if the business had no activity?

In most cases yes; an entity that exists at the federal or Florida level generally has filing obligations even with little or no income. We review your situation and file what applies so the entity stays in good standing.

How much does corporate tax return preparation in Miami cost?

It depends on the entity type, the number of owners and K-1s, whether there are foreign partners with their own reporting, and how much work the books need before a figure can go on the return. A single-owner S corporation in Pinecrest and a partnership in Doral with partners abroad are different cases. We explain what yours involves in the first conversation.

What if my business return is late or a prior year was never filed?

Bring what you have and tell us which years are open. We rebuild the books for those periods, prepare each return in order and explain any notice that may already exist. If the IRS or the state has already written to you, our business tax audit help page covers how we handle the response.

Can the return be prepared remotely, and do you do it in Spanish?

Yes. Documents are exchanged securely, signatures are electronic and we review the result by video or by appointment at our Palmetto Bay or Sunrise office, in Spanish or English. Once the return is filed, many clients start corporate tax planning for the following year while the numbers are fresh.
