Serving Miami and all of South Florida

Two offices, one team, and clients from Homestead to Fort Lauderdale.

Florida has no state personal income tax, so an individual return in Miami is a federal matter with the IRS, but that does not make it simple. Many of our clients in Palmetto Bay, Kendall and Sunrise file with an ITIN, earn part of their income abroad, drive for delivery platforms or rent out a second property, and each of those situations adds forms to the return. We prepare returns in English and Spanish and explain every line before it is filed.

Visits are by appointment. Most of the work can also be done remotely.

Frequently asked questions

Straight answers about this service. For anything else, call us or ask the assistant.

Who needs personal tax preparation in Miami?

Anyone with US income above the filing threshold, and many people below it who want a refund of withheld tax or a credit. In Miami that includes W-2 employees, 1099 contractors, delivery drivers, landlords and families with income or accounts in another country. We review your situation and tell you which forms your return needs.

Do I need to file a state tax return in Florida?

No. Florida does not tax personal income, so residents file only a federal return with the IRS. If you earned income in another state during the year, that state may require its own return, and we review that with you.

What documents should I bring for my individual tax return?

Your photo ID, Social Security numbers or ITINs for everyone on the return, all income forms (W-2, 1099, 1098), records of deductible expenses and last year's return. If you are self-employed, bring a summary of business income and expenses; if you rent out property, the rent received and the costs of the property.

Can you prepare my tax return with an ITIN instead of a Social Security number?

Yes. A large share of the individual tax returns we prepare in Miami are filed with an ITIN. We build the return around your ITIN and organize the paperwork if the number needs to be renewed or requested along with the return.

How does the process work with Overthink?

You book an appointment at our Palmetto Bay or Sunrise office, or a remote session, and we review your documents together. We prepare the federal Form 1040 with the schedules your case needs, explain the result line by line and file electronically once you approve it. You keep a complete copy. Book your appointment

How much does personal tax preparation cost in Miami?

The scope of personal tax preparation in Miami depends on what the return contains: a single W-2 is one thing, while self-employment, rental property, investments or foreign income each add schedules and time. We look at your documents in the first conversation and explain the scope before any work starts, so there are no surprises.

Do you serve Broward County as well as Miami-Dade?

Yes. We have an office in Sunrise for clients in Broward, from Fort Lauderdale to Pembroke Pines and Weston, and one in Palmetto Bay for Miami-Dade. Remote appointments are available for both, with documents shared securely.

Can I get my taxes done in Spanish?

Yes. Our team prepares returns and explains them in Spanish or English, whichever you prefer, and the finished return is the same IRS document either way. Many first-time filers in Hialeah, Kendall and Doral come to us for exactly that reason.

What if I owe money or have not filed for a few years?

We prepare the current return and any prior years that are missing, in the order that makes sense, and explain the options the IRS offers for a balance you cannot pay at once. To avoid the same situation next year, personal tax planning sets up estimated payments and records during the year, and if you receive a letter, our audit support team helps you respond.
