Serving Miami and all of South Florida

Two offices, one team, and clients from Homestead to Fort Lauderdale.

Both Miami-Dade County and Broward County require a local business tax receipt for every business location, and it is issued in addition to the city receipt, not instead of it. In Miami-Dade the county classification for medical professionals is often tied to the number of practitioners at the site, so a group that adds providers may need to update its receipt. Practices in Homestead and Pembroke Pines frequently discover the county requirement only when a payer or an AHCA surveyor asks for proof of all local licenses. We verify what each county needs for your address and keep the county and city records aligned.

Visits are by appointment. Most of the work can also be done remotely.

Frequently asked questions

Straight answers about this service. For anything else, call us or ask the assistant.

What is the Miami-Dade County local business tax receipt?

It is the county-level license every business location in Miami-Dade must hold, issued by the county tax collector and separate from any city receipt. Broward County issues its own equivalent through its records and revenue office, and a clinic in either county needs it before it can show a complete set of local licenses.

I already have a city business tax receipt. Do I still need one from the county?

Yes. In Miami-Dade and Broward the county receipt is a separate requirement that applies to every location, whether or not the address also falls inside a city. We file both and make sure they list the same entity and address, and we handle the city licenses and permits as well.

My clinic is in unincorporated Miami-Dade. Which license applies?

In an unincorporated area there is no city step, so the Miami-Dade County local business tax receipt is your only local license. Many practice owners are told to get a city license that does not exist for their address; we check the exact jurisdiction first.

Does each doctor in the practice need a county receipt?

County rules can require a receipt for the business and additional receipts tied to the licensed professionals working at the location. We review your roster and tell you exactly what to file so nothing is missed or duplicated.

What information should I have ready?

Your Sunbiz entity details, FEIN, the address of each location, your state professional or facility license, and the list of licensed professionals practicing at each site. If the entity is not registered yet, we can register your new business first.

How much is the county business tax receipt in Miami-Dade or Broward?

The amount depends on the county, the classification assigned to your practice type and, in Miami-Dade, often on the number of practitioners at the site. We tell you which classification applies to your practice in the first conversation and file it under the correct one.

What happens if the county receipt lapsed?

The receipt can usually be reinstated by filing the renewal with any penalties the county applies, and payers or AHCA surveyors may ask to see it current. We reinstate it, update the record if you added providers or locations, and set a renewal reminder so it does not lapse again.

Do you handle the Broward County receipt from your Sunrise office?

Yes. Our Sunrise office serves practices in Fort Lauderdale, Plantation, Weston, Pembroke Pines and the rest of Broward, and our Palmetto Bay office serves Miami-Dade. Both work by appointment, in English or Spanish, and most county filings can also be handled remotely.
