Serving Miami and all of South Florida

Two offices, one team, and clients from Homestead to Fort Lauderdale.

Because Florida has no personal income tax, almost every audit letter a Miami resident receives comes from the IRS, although people who moved here from New York, New Jersey or another state may still hear from that state about the year they left. In South Florida the questions we see most involve 1099 income from independent work, rental properties in Homestead or Kendall, and credits claimed for children and dependents. We prepare the response with you, in English or Spanish, and stay on the file until the agency answers.

Visits are by appointment. Most of the work can also be done remotely.

Frequently asked questions

Straight answers about this service. For anything else, call us or ask the assistant.

What does IRS audit help in Miami actually include?

Support and preparation. We read the notice with you, identify exactly what the IRS or the state is questioning, reconstruct the records that answer it and prepare a clear written response with the documents in the order the examiner expects. We also help with follow-up letters until the agency closes the matter.

Will you speak to the IRS on my behalf?

Our role is support and preparation, not representation: we help you understand the notice, organize the evidence and draft the response, and we help you respond to follow-up requests. If your case needs a professional authorized to act for you before the agency, we tell you and help you prepare the file for them.

What should I bring when I receive an audit letter?

The complete letter, including all pages and the envelope, the tax return for the year in question, and any documents related to the items mentioned: income forms, receipts, bank statements, lease agreements or proof of residence for dependents. If you cannot find something, tell us; part of the work is reconstructing records.

I received a CP2000 or a letter about missing 1099 income. Is that an audit?

Not exactly. A CP2000 is a notice that the income the IRS received from third parties does not match your return, and it proposes a change. It still needs a careful, documented reply, because agreeing or ignoring it has consequences. We compare the IRS figures with your records and prepare the response.

What if I already missed the date on the letter?

Bring it in anyway. The notice usually explains what happens next, and there are often still ways to respond or correct the return. We review where the matter stands and prepare the most complete response possible.

Does Florida audit personal income tax returns?

Florida has no personal income tax, so audit letters for a Miami resident almost always come from the IRS. If you moved here from New York, New Jersey or another state, that state may still write about the year you left, and we help with those notices too.

How much does IRS audit help in Miami cost and how long does it take?

It depends on what the notice questions and how much of the record has to be rebuilt: one missing 1099 is a short job, a full examination of a self-employed return with dependents is not. We read the letter in the first conversation and explain the scope before starting. Contact us

Can you help me avoid this next year?

Yes. Most notices we see in South Florida come from unreported 1099 income, rental figures that do not match, or credits claimed without the right documents. Once the response is filed, we can prepare next year's individual tax return with those records in order, and our personal tax planning service sets up what to keep during the year.
