South Florida families lean heavily on state programs like Florida Bright Futures and on the aid packages of local schools such as FIU, Miami Dade College and Broward College, and every one of them starts with a correctly filed FAFSA. Many of the parents we see in Palmetto Bay and Sunrise are self-employed or have income from abroad, which makes the FAFSA income questions harder than they look. We prepare the applications with families in English or Spanish, and we explain each award letter before anyone signs.

Visits are by appointment. Most of the work can also be done remotely.

Do you lend money or pay for tuition?

No. Overthink is not a lender and does not provide funds. We help you identify aid programs, prepare the applications and understand the offers you receive; the decisions and the money come from the programs and schools themselves.

What kind of FAFSA help do you offer in Miami?

We prepare the FAFSA with the family, step by step: the student's and parents' information, the income and tax questions, the list of schools and the signatures. We also check the result and explain what the schools will do with it. Most FAFSA help in Miami is requested by parents who are self-employed or have income from abroad, because those questions are the hardest.

What do I need to complete the FAFSA?

The student's and, for dependent students, the parents' Social Security numbers, the most recent federal tax returns and income records, bank and investment balances and a list of the schools being considered. If a parent's return is not filed yet, we can prepare the individual tax return first so the FAFSA figures match.

Can you help with Florida Bright Futures and local school aid?

Yes. We review the Bright Futures requirements published by the Florida Department of Education, the aid packages of FIU, Miami Dade College, Broward College and other schools, and private scholarships that fit the student. Each program has its own window and documents, and we build a calendar so nothing is missed.

My child was accepted, but the aid letter is confusing. Can you help?

Yes. We read the award letter with you and separate grants and scholarships, which are not repaid, from loans and work-study, so you know the real cost before accepting. If two schools sent offers, we compare them side by side.

Can adults returning to school get financial aid?

Often, yes. Adults in South Florida going back for a degree, a nursing program or a technical certification can usually file the FAFSA as independent students and may qualify for federal grants and school aid. We review your situation and tell you which programs are worth applying to.

How much does FAFSA help in Miami cost?

It depends on how many applications and programs are involved: one FAFSA for a W-2 household is simpler than a FAFSA with self-employment income plus several scholarship applications and essays. We explain the scope in the first conversation, before any work starts. Contact us

Do you work with families in Broward, in Spanish, or remotely?

Yes. We meet families at our Sunrise office for Broward and in Palmetto Bay for Miami-Dade, or by video call, and we work in English or Spanish. If a school or program asks for proof of income and assets, our personal financial statements service prepares that documentation.
