Live Scan is the electronic fingerprinting that Florida agencies use for licenses, employment and background screening. In Miami it is required for healthcare workers screened through AHCA, childcare and school staff under DCF, DBPR license applicants such as real estate and security, and many other positions of trust. Your employer or licensing board tells you when you need it.

The ORI (Originating Agency Identifier) tells FDLE which agency requested your screening and where to send the results. Your employer, licensing board or agency provides it, often along with a profile or provider number. Bring it to your appointment; without it we cannot transmit your prints.

A valid government-issued photo ID (driver's license, state ID or passport), the ORI and any codes from your requesting agency, and your Social Security number if the agency asks for it. Come with clean, dry hands.

You book an appointment at our Palmetto Bay office in Miami-Dade or our Sunrise office in Broward. We verify your ID and the ORI, capture all ten prints electronically, recapture any that do not meet quality standards and transmit the record to FDLE, and to the FBI when the screening requires it. The total depends on the type of screening your agency requested, because FDLE and FBI processing fees vary by ORI and purpose, and on whether a photo or a Clearinghouse registration is required with the prints. We confirm the exact scope for your ORI when you book, before the appointment.

Yes. Live Scan fingerprinting in Miami and Broward is available in English or Spanish at both offices, Palmetto Bay for Miami-Dade and Sunrise for Broward, which covers Fort Lauderdale, Plantation and Pembroke Pines. Fingerprinting has to be done in person, but booking and questions can be handled remotely.
